SANTEE, WATSON, ELLER, KING, AND PORTER CAPTURE WINS ON RACEWAY 7’s CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT!

Raceway 7 was blessed with spacious autumn like weather on Raceway 7’s Championship Night.

Billy Henry would once again claim the track title in the Evergreen Lake Park Campground RUSH Crate Late Models. Cranesville’s Josh McDonald would go back-to back in the Campbell’s Mini Storage UMP Open Wheel Modifieds. It would be Zack Eller bringing home the gold in the Lakeview Ford Econo Mods. Dedicated racer Kole Holden making two hour tow to Raceway 7 ever Friday night would claim his first career Raceway 7 points title in the Nicky B’s Truck & RV Collision RUSH Sport Mods, and local favorite Branden Porter would be the first to put his name on the 21st Century Energy Crown Vic championship trophy.

Breyton Santee would win the battle but Billy Henry would win the war. Santee would lead from start to finish in the Evergreen Lake Park RUSH Crate Late Model feature, picking up his second Raceway 7 feature win of the season. Billy Henry with his 4th place finish would nail down Raceway 7’s Evergreen Lake Park Campground RUSH Crate Late Models 2026 points championship, for the third consecutive season. Following Santee at the finish would be, 2014, 2017 track champion Kyle Zimmerman, New Yorker Austin Hauser, Billy Henry, and Orwell’s Cory Sines.

Previous week’s winner and race leader Nate Young would break going down the backstretch on lap 1 giving the lead to multi track champ Joel Watson. Watson would lead the remaining 19 laps untouched to bag his first Raceway 7 Campbell’s Mini Storage UMP Open Wheel Modifed feature win of the season. Josh McDonald capturing his 2nd track title in as many season’s would finish 2nd, Kingsville’s Bud Watson was 3rd, Dan McDonald 4th, and 15th place starter Matt Alexander was 5th.

Erie’s Zack Eller would close out a close points battle with Garrett Calvert in fine fashion, by nailing down his 7th Raceway 7 Lakeview Ford Econo Mod feature win of 26.’ Eller would hold off a fierce challenge from Calvert throughout the 15 lap a-main to record his first career Raceway 7 Lakeview Ford Econo Mod point’s title. Calvert would have to settle for 2nd, 2023, 2025 track champ Jake Eucker was 3rd, Jason Noe who was definitely the breakout driver of the year in the class was 4th, and veteran Dennis Lunger was 5th. Jake Eucker would capture the King of the Hill match race event.

Youngster Karston King would take the lead from initial leader Anthony Antus on lap 3, keeping enough distance between himself and veteran Jim Racey to score his first ever Raceway 7 Nicky B’s Truck & RV Collision RUSH Sport Mod feature win. Racey would secure 2nd, 2026 track champion Kole Holden was 3rd, Jacob Rutana was 4th, and Kyle Hanshaw with a solid run was 5th.

Without a doubt the feature of the night would be Raceway 7’s 21st Century Energy Crown Vics. The 12 lap event would see five lead changes between three different drivers. Track champion Branden Porter would take the lead from Dave Dropsho with 4 laps to go to record his 3rd career feature win in the class
at Raceway 7 as well as the classes first ever points champion. Following the Ashtabula County native at the stripe would be points runner-up and two time feature winner on the season Steve Hull, Bill Fuchs had a solid run finishing 3rd, Dave Dropsho would slip back finishing 4th, and Dave Hanshaw Jr. would round out the top 5.

Don’t forget next Friday and Saturday will be Raceway 7’s 9th Annual September Shootout. Featuring two nights of Super Late Models, along with Raceway 7’s other weekly divisions running for extra money. Past September Shootout Late Model winners are, Doug Drown (2018), Max Blair (2019, 2020), Jared Miley (2021), Alex Ferree (2022), Dave Hess Jr. (2023, 2024, 2025)
