Brewer, Vanguilder, Earle Jr., Covey, Black, Chamberlain, Heineman, and Baker Jr. all visit victory lane during the two-day festival.

BUSTI, N.Y. — Stateline Speedway successfully hosted the second edition of the “Vintage Rumble,” a two-day festival blending beautifully restored vintage race cars with the track’s modern weekly favorites. The event drew competitors from across the country as part of Stateline’s ongoing 70th-anniversary celebration. The weekend also delivered major championship implications, with points battles taking significant swings across all competing divisions.

A beautiful Friday evening kicked off the action with qualifying heats for the vintage cars, alongside full points-paying programs for the RUSH Pro Mods, UMP Modifieds, Pro Stocks, and Challengers. Saturday’s finale brought the vintage feature events to the historic Busti oval, supported by another full card for the RUSH Pro Mods, Pro Stocks, and Challengers, plus a $750-to-win special for the RUSH Stock Cars.

RUSH Pro Mods

  • Friday: The opening night featured a chaotic 15-lap main event highlighted by DNFs for Josh Canfield and Tyler Oakes, while Dave Shagla Jr. miraculously finished the race despite ripping the entire front end off his machine. Navigating the chaos flawlessly, Victor Earle Jr. secured the feature victory over a hard-charging Cody Vanguilder.
  • Saturday: Vanguilder’s consistency paid off in the finale. Earle Jr. initially took the lead from his outside starting position, but Vanguilder relentlessly reeled him in by laying down the quickest laps of the race. Tragedy struck Earle Jr. when a mechanical failure sent his car up in smoke, handing the lead to Vanguilder. Vanguilder capitalized on the opportunity, holding off young standout Trenton Curry to claim the win.

Pro Stocks Brent Marrotto played the role of bridesmaid on both nights, delivering relentless pressure and giving the eventual winners all they could handle.

  • Friday: Jason Covey drove to victory lane after successfully holding off multiple late-race charges from Marrotto. Pole-sitter Nick Robie delivered a stellar performance, running in the runner-up spot for the majority of the event before Marrotto slipped by, ultimately settling for a strong third-place podium finish.
  • Saturday: Jason Black and Marrotto engaged in a bitter duel to the checkered flag. Marrotto reached Black’s quarter panel multiple times but could not complete the pass, allowing Black to secure the win. Meanwhile, Friday’s winner, Covey, spent heavily trying to get past veteran John Boardman for third. Covey finally made the pass but ran out of time to hunt down the lead duo.

Challengers

  • Friday: The Chamberlain family kept their winning streak alive as Trent Chamberlain parked it in victory lane, following up Addison Chamberlain’s recent division victory. Behind him, Holden Heineman and Billi Jo Huffman thrilled the crowd with a fierce, 10-lap, door-to-door battle to round out the podium. Further back, Annaleesa Diabo and Bryce Anderson traded haymakers in a fierce fight for a top-five finish.
  • Saturday: Holden Heineman dominated the second night, driving off into the Busti night entirely unopposed. Behind him, Diabo and Anderson renewed their rivalry, battling inside the top three early on. A late-race restart completely shuffled the deck, allowing Pete Volpe to charge from his sixth-place running position to pass Anderson and mount a challenge on Diabo. Aiden Oneal earned the overall weekend “Hard Charger” award, passing six cars from his 10th-place starting spot.

UMP Modifieds (Friday Only) Making their sole appearance of the weekend on Friday night, the UMP Modified feature belonged to the ageless Al Brewer. With over 50 years of racing experience under his belt, Brewer added another Stateline Speedway victory to his resume by holding off Greg Johnson. The drive of the race belonged to Andrew Hammond; after falling back several positions early, Hammond found massive speed on the high side to claw his way back through the field and secure a podium finish.

RUSH Stock Cars (Saturday Only) The $750-to-win RUSH Stock Car special delivered a “Race of the Weekend” candidate. Cole Strickland controlled the early portions of the extended-lap feature as challengers like Wilson and Diegelman attempted to use the high side in turns three and four, only for turns one and two to bite them and allow Strickland to retain the lead. William Baker Jr., starting from the sixth position, learned from his competitors’ mistakes. Baker executed a brilliant pass on Strickland near the halfway mark—losing half of his rear bumper in the process—and proceeded to run the fastest laps of the race to secure the lucrative victory.

Upcoming Schedule Stateline Speedway returns to action next Saturday, August 22, for a highly anticipated “FREE NIGHT.” The event will feature free grandstand admission for all fans, alongside backpack giveaways for the kids. Further details can be found on Stateline Speedway’s website and social media channels.
