For Immediate Release August 14, 2026
Clearfield, PA – Hidden Valley Speedway swung back into action Friday night after a week off for rain, as Collin Mills of Deposit, NY took home the $2,500 top prize in the Jess Mayhew Memorial for the Four Cylinders, while Austin Fenton of Clearfield earned his first career win in the Pure Stock main. The Legend car feature was won by Jeremy Ott of Carlise while Derek Cameron of Punxstawney won the ATV Feature.
Other winners included: BJ Hudson of Clearfield in the Semi Lates, Craig Casher of Mineral Springs in the Small Block Modifieds and Fuzzy Fields of Brockway in the Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks.
The Semi Lates hit the track with BJ Hudson and Dylan Fenton on the front row, with Hudson taking the lead and Justin Owens in second for the first lap, when Fenton moved under him for second and set his sights on Hudson. Fenton would draw close to Hudson, but the lost some ground the reel the leader back in. This went on the entire race, as Hudson was able to hold on for his third win of the season. Fenton was a close second with Owens and Jeremy Lippert rounding out the field. Hudson won the heat.
The Small Block Modifieds were also light, with Craig Casher getting off the line before his nephew, Shannon. Before the first lap was completed, Levi Picard was able to move into second, as Shannon Casher got high. The rest of the distance, Picard chased Craig Casher, but he wasn’t able to muster up the extra surge to get the win. The finish was Craig Casher, Picard, Shannon Casher, Kyle Holden and Trent Ogden. Craig Casher also copped the heat win.
Brandon Connor beat Zach Gustafson out of the shoot to start the Penn Ohio Pro Stock feature, with a caution waving on the first lap and Connor having to pit with a flat tire. Unfortunately, he was not able to return before the two laps were up he got for having a flat, this gave Fuzzy Fields the lead as Gustafson ran second, then on lap five, Mitch Stiles was able to move into the second spot and he set his sights on Fields. Stiles was able to pull alongside of Fields a few times, but Fields always chose the faster line and when Sam McClellan waved the double checkered flags, it was Fields getting his fourth win of the season. Stiles was a close second with Gustafson, Rich Howell and Josh Bloom completing the top five. Connor and Gustafson won the heats.
The Pure Stock feature saw newcomer Austin Fenton and multi-time winner and defending point champion Eric Lucas on the front row, and when McClellan threw the green to get the feature started, Fenton shot into the lead and Lucas was second and Ryan Shaffner sat third. On lap nine, Shaffner was able to make his way past Lucas as he moved into second, once there, he was reeling in the leader, and the final five laps were exciting to watch, as Shaffner was all over Fenton. Shaffner was working the inside, Fenton used the outside, and while Shaffner was able to lead part of the laps, it was Fenton who led at the line, and when the checkers waved it was Fenton grabbing his career first ever feature win. Shaffner was a close second with Lucas, Noah Bloom and Kaleb Fields completing the top five. Fenton also won the heat.
The show of the night, the Jess Mayhew Memorial for the Four Cylinders, sanctioned by the SCDRA Series. The race saw the field do a four wide parade lap, with the pole position missing, in memory of Anthony Sones, a Four Cylinder competitor who lost his life on Wednesday in a motorcycle crash that also claimed the life of his girlfriend, Myrandah Wormuth. Anthony was excited to have Friday night off to be able to compete in the Jess Mayhew Memorial.
Once the parade lap was done and the field was realigned, the front row saw Collin Mills and Zack Frantz lining up beside each other, as Mills shot into the lead with Frantz in second and Chris Anderson third. As Mills pulled away, second place back was ferocious as Z. Frantz held second until lap five, when Anderson took over the runner up spot, then on lap 12, Zack Lennox moved into third and Jordan Wheeler was in fourth, then Wheeler got into Lennox and Lennox hit the wall. Lennox exited his car, which is not allowed, then he threw his helmet at Wheeler. SCDRA Officials made the decision right then and there that both drivers would be disqualified, Lennox for exiting the car and throwing his helmet at another competitor and Wheeler for aggressive driving and causing the crash.
When the 30-lapper resumed, it was still Mills in the lead now with Camden Frantz in second and Chaz Smith in third and the top three would cross under McClellan’s double checkered flags that way. Jacob Wheeler was fourth and Blake Snyder was fifth. The winners of the preliminaries were: Zack Frantz, Lennox, Reed Chapman, AJ Hoffner, Anderson and Mills. The twin “B” main winners were: Tyler Gill and Adam Bales.
The Legend Car Series made a return trip to the Valley with Darren Lucas and Jeremy Ott on the front row, with Ott taking the lead and bringing Ryan Walls into second. As Walls chased Ott, Matt Parks was coming from 10th to the front, as he picked his way through the field with the help of only one caution. Parks moved into third on lap 12 and was working on Walls when the checkered flags waved. The official top five were: Ott, Walls, Parks, Eric Moats and Jayden Powell. Heat wins were taken by Lucas for his first ever win in the series and Ott.
The ATV Race saw Jim Cameron and Derek Cameron on the front row with Derek Cameron taking the win over Jim Cameron and Luke Winters.
Amanda Smith took the win of the Four Cylinder Mechanics race over Josh Frantz.
