WILD FINISH’S HIGHLIGHT WAYNE COUNTY SPEEDWAY’S DIRT BLOWOUT WEEKEND

The 60th season of racing came to a close this week-end with the running of the 13th annual Ohio Dirt Blowout at Wayne County Speedway with some great racing and some late race action.

The Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints raced on Saturday night only and the 25 lap feature would have Tyler Street setting the pace at the drop of the green flag. Trey Jacobs, Tanner Tecco, Rayce Jacobs and Henry Malcuit would be in pursuit on the opening circuit as a caution flag waved on lap 2 for Charlie Russell and Trey Jacobs would suffer a flat tire. As the race continued, Tecco and Rayce Jacobs would battle for second behind Street until lap 6 when Tecco drove hard into turn three and he would ride the guardrail all the way through turn four and then go into turn one and hit the guardrail as he slowed with steering problems and ending his run. Rayce Jacobs held on to second until Malcuit slipped past and set sail for Street, who had built up a comfortable lead on lap 10. As the laps clicked off, Malcuit kept closing the gap on Street and with two to go, was on Street’s tail. Coming out of turn four with the checkered flag in the air, Street bobbled and Malcuit edged past for the win. It would be the fourth win of the season including an All Star victory for the Strasburg driver and his SugarCreek Cartage, McIntosh Oil and Red Malcuit Inc. #70. For Street, it would be the second time in the last two races that he had the point on the white flag lap and lose the race as back on August 23.the motor quit just as he took the white flag. Rayce Jacobs took third as Trey Jacobs came back to take fourth as Dylan Kingan filled out the top five.

The JoyRide Transport Mini Stocks vied for the Sam Huffman Memorial with $2,000 up for grabs on Saturday night with Portland’s Dennis Adkins and his West Portland Honda #4a holding off Colton St.John, who was never more than a car length behind. Despite several cautions, Adkins would out drag St. John on the restarts on his way to the win. Justin Forsythe ran third as WCS regulars Doug Hensel, David Potter and Cody Musselman fourth through sixth. Friday night’s action saw Ravenswood Wv’s Patrick Willbarger winning in the same West Portland Honda and Adkins Family Racing #4a. David Potter, Billy Parsons, Brock Searls and Valek Menough would follow in the top five.

It was Lady Luck Good and Lady Luck Bad for two drivers in the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Models on both nights. Kyle Moore 9 wins this season while Ryan Markham has been runner up four times and it looked like those numbers would increase for both but Lady Luck had other ideas. The opening laps Saturday night would have Moore and Markham going back and forth with the lead until Moore took control on lap six as J R Gentry and Doug Drown raced for third.as Cody Scott joined them late in the race. Moore had opened up a sizable lead but a caution with 3 laps to for Tyler Evans and during that time, Moore’s right rear lost pressure and went to the work area for a new one. Markham and his B & B Drain Service, Ocala Restaurent Service and Beer Barrel Drive Thru #5m inherited the lead and then held off Gentry the final two laps for the win. Drown, Scott and Moore filled out the top five.Friday’s race would see Moore and Markham out front but mechanical issues knocked the 1* of Moore out of action with 5 circuits to go and Markham was on Lady Lucks good side and start the week end off on a winning note. Scott, Matt Bee, D J Cline and Larry Bellman grabbed Friday night top fives.

Friday night’s Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service Modified main would also see Kyle Moore set the early pace but Issues with the #21d just past the halfway mark of the feature sidelined him as Dalton Lane and Gallipolis’ J P Robert Jr. went toe to toe for the lead in a physical, caution filled race. Lane’s #14 had the right side of the car peeled back but he held the top spot and then going down the back shute on the final lap, pulled off and Robert Jr came around to collect the checkered flag aboard the Burlile Performance Products, V P Race Fuels and Ty Twarog Racing #9r. Jimmy Humphrey, Markham, Josh Hlad and Nate Arp scored the top five. Saturday’s racing started out the same way as Moore grabbed the lead with Humphery, Markham and Brandon Morrow swapping second place until lap five when Morrow took second and put pressure on Moore. As Moore went through turns three and four on lap 11, sparks underneath his car began and he pulled off, with Morrow taking P1 and Markham on his rear bumper. Following a caution for Dewey Powell on lap 14 and Humphrey developing car issues as he was in third and going pitside, Markham overpowered Morrow on the restart and there was no catching the Tri Valley Equipment, Shultz Ford and Ty Twarog Racing #5 as he would pocket his third win of the weekend. Morrow held second in front of Ron Miller, Rocky Owens and Chaz Dawson

2025 Canton Glass House Super Stock Champion Brandon Craver started the year off with four straight wins but had not returned to the Summit Racing Victory circle until Saturday night as the Navarre driver was out front all the way aboard the Ohio Paper Tube, Global Transport and Mid’s #771. Daniel Sanchez made a couple of challenges but never got by Craver as Brad Hensel ran third trailed by Kyle McAfee and Don Rutt. Belpre’s Barry Fairbanks outdueled Nate Young, who was driving the same car #69 as Sanchez was on Saturday night, and Jordan Conover early in the race. Conover would drop out mid way as Young could not get past Fairbanks. Jim Nicely, Don Rutt and Brad Hensel rounded out the top five
