Tri City Raceway Park Cancels Second Straight Event Due to Weather

Franklin, PA — For the second consecutive week, Mother Nature is the only winner at Tri City Raceway Park, as persistent rain across the region has forced the cancellation of this week’s racing program.

Heavy rainfall over the past several days has made it difficult to complete critical track preparation and ensure safe racing conditions.

“This was a tough decision, but the right one,” said owners Josh and Kyrsten Shiffer. “We want to race as much as anyone, but we’re not willing to rush the process and compromise the track. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.”

Track officials made the call with as much advance notice as possible to allow teams and fans time to adjust their plans.

Attention now turns to next Friday, when Tri City Raceway Park looks to open its season with 4 Star Racing. The Mini Stocks are also scheduled for their first appearance of the year.

General Manager Jim Dutko is also working to reschedule the postponed Econo Mod Tour event.

“We’re hopeful we can get the Econo Mod Tour back on the schedule later this season,” Dutko said. “Right now, our focus is getting the track ready so we can finally get the season underway.”

Tri City Raceway Park remains optimistic that improved weather will allow racing to begin as planned.

“We’re ready to get going and let the dirt fly,” the Shiffer’s added. “Hopefully, the third time’s the charm.”
