June 16, 2026 – For Immediate Release
Tri-City Raceway Park is gearing up for a massive “Double Down Weekend” on its half-mile oval, bringing race fans two big events of action on Friday and Sunday.
FRANKLIN, PA — The weekend begins on Friday with a packed four-star racing, plus Mini Stocks before returning on Father’s Day Sunday with a heavy-hitting lineup featuring regional touring stars. For drivers and race fans alike, it’s a chance to catch two nights of racing to help celebrate Father’s Day weekend.
Friday’s action launches with the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply 410 Sprint Cars, where a brand-new point leader is sitting on top of the standings. Brandon Matus rides a wave of momentum into the weekend after capturing his first feature win in five years, giving him a narrow 10-point lead over 64-year-old veteran Bob Felmlee. Felmlee is highly motivated to bounce back after a mechanical failure knocked him out of the running before the green flag even dropped last week. Chasing them both is rising young gun Dusty Larson, who holds down the third spot with 286 points. In the RK Virgile Iron & Steel Pro Stocks, Curt J. Bish shook up the division last week by snapping the win streak held by the Whitling father-son duo. With that victory, Bish has closed the gap to just six points behind current championship leader Jake Whitling, who tops the division with 241 points. The 21st Century Energy Group RUSH Sprint Cars have completed five feature events so far this season, but victory lane has belonged to just two drivers. Defending track champion Blaze Myers has already made three trips to victory lane to command the standings with 329 points, while Gale Ruth Jr. owns the other two checkered flags and is looking to shrink his 30-point deficit this weekend. They will have to fend off a fast Zach Morrow, who is aiming for a major rebound after a DNF ended his night early last week. Meanwhile, the Complete Car Care Center RUSH Stock Cars have essentially been the William Baker show, as he has captured three wins in four races, with his only loss coming via a mechanical breakage. Billy Myers Sr. is the only other driver to claim a checkered flag in the division this year and will be looking to halt Baker’s run. The Mini Stocks will round out Friday’s action-packed racing card. The green drops at 7 pm on Friday.
The excitement picks right back up on Father’s Day Sunday as the regional stars of the FAST 410 Sprint Car Series roll into town for their only official tune-up before the prestigious Summer Sizzler / Andy & Billie Lutz Memorial Race. Because this is the final chance to dial in car setups before the big-money memorial race, drivers are expected to push their equipment to the absolute limit on the fast half-mile. This tour is locked in a tight championship battle led by Tyler Gunn with 1,879 points, followed closely by John Jerich (1,828), Tyler Esh (1,686), Jonah Aumend (1,677), Ricky Peterson (1,657), and Mitch Harble (1,548). Tri-City local standouts are ready to defend their home turf, including AJ Flick, who has captured two of the past four tour races on the half-mile oval, and Jeremy Weaver, the reigning Summer Sizzler champion. Brandon Spithaler is also on a serious roll at Tri-City, having already won twice here this season and coming off a strong second-place finish last week. Joining the sprint cars for their first appearance of the season are the big-block BRP Modifieds. This marks the 36th time the big blocks will race at the Venango County facility, a historic track that has produced 16 different winners over the years. Erick Rudolph leads the historical stats with six track victories, including a triumph last season, while Rex King Jr. and Colten Walters also earned checkered flags here last year. Rounding out Sunday’s spectacular holiday event are the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds. Fans can expect a highly competitive showdown in this division, as Todd English and Chas Wolbert split all four feature races between them last season, leaving everyone wondering who will break the tie this time around. The racing will start at 7 Pm on Sunday.
