BOB McCLAY TRIBUTE /SCHOOL’S OUT SHOWDOWN FEATURING 410 SPRINTS $4000 To WIN THIS SATURDAY AT MICHAELS MERCER RACEWAY PARK! 🏁

This Saturday, June 6th, Michaels Mercer Raceway Park will proudly honor a man whose name is forever woven into the fabric of Mercer racing history — Robert “Bob” McClay.

For decades, Bob was one of the first faces race fans saw when arriving at the speedway. Energetic, dedicated, dependable, and always wearing a smile, Bob devoted countless hours to the track he loved.

Bob’s journey at Mercer Raceway Park began in the late 1970s, watering the track and serving as an official. From 1994 until 2016, he welcomed fans at the main gate, while his wife Carol greeted many at the side gate until her passing in 2009. Together, they became beloved fixtures of Saturday night racing and were recognized with the prestigious Majestic Award for their dedication to the speedway.

Bob’s love for racing extended far beyond his gate duties. He made signs for the pits, cleaned up after race nights, distributed schedules throughout local businesses, promoted the track at fairs, and did countless things behind the scenes simply because he loved Mercer Raceway Park and Saturday night racing.

His daughter shared that Bob never missed a week of racing until his passing in June 2017. In fact, when she got engaged, Bob jokingly told her not to get married during racing season!
His smile, friendly personality, and passion for racing are still remembered and missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Join us this Saturday as we celebrate the life and legacy of a true Mercer icon.
