RAIN WINS FOR THE 3RD STRAIGHT SATURDAY AT SHARON; 97TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON OPENER POSTPONED TO MAY 16

May 9, 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Hartford, OH)…Rain showers that began on Friday and continued into the early morning hours of Saturday coupled with a high probability of thunderstorms in the forecast throughout the evening have resulted in the third straight cancellation to begin the 97th anniversary season at Sharon Speedway.

The 2026 opener will now take place on Saturday, May 16 in a Bala Management “Super Series” event on Barris Supply Night featuring the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply “410” Sprint Cars for $4,000 to-win and the Hovis Big-Block Modifieds for $2,000 to-win along with the Alcon Mechanical Econo Mods and the Gibson Insurance Agency Crown Vics. Pits will open at 4 p.m. with general admission gates opening at 5. Warm-ups will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. followed by heat race action. It’ll also be “School Spirit Night” presented by Willy’s World with free admission for students wearing school spirit.

Sharon Speedway is owned by Dave Blaney, Ryan Blaney, and Will Thomas III and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
