Crossman and Frantz new winners as Hidden Valley Crowns Point Champs
For Immediate Release August 30, 2025
Clearfield, PA -David Crossman of Glen Mills won his first ever Small Block Modified Feature Saturday night at Hidden Valley Speedway, making him one of three new winners on the final regular show of the season and Zach Frantz of Big Run picked up the win in the Little’s Drive In Four Cylinders while Heath Walton of Mifflintown won the second of two 600 Micro features.
Repeat winners were Brad Benton of Duncansville in the Semi Lates, Eric Lucas of Clearfield in the Pure Stock main and Izzy Landis of New Port won the make up 600 Micro Sprint race.
Danny Gill and Brad Benton led the Semi Late feature to the start with Benton taking the lead and setting the pace with Gill second and Justin Owens in third. A caution on lap two regrouped the field, as point leader Gary Little was working his way towards the front from his 8th place starting spot. On the restart, Benton was still leading, as Owens shot by Gill and into second and by the eighth lap, Little had moved into third and was throwing everything he had at Owens trying to wrestle second away. As the laps were winding down, Little was still trying to steal second and finally able to cleanly move by Owens on lap 14. Benton was still setting the pace, when the second caution of the race flew for a spinning Ron Laubschur. The restart saw Little now on Benton’s bumper, trying to take the lead away from Benton, but Benton was working the highside and Little was using the low groove. They were door-to-door most of the final four laps, and as Sam McClellan threw the double checkered flags, it was Benton getting the win over Little by less than a car length. Owens held on to third with Gill fourth and Nick Botteicher fifth. Heat wins went to Gill and Benton.
The Small Block Modifieds were brought to the start with David Crossman and Craig Casher on the front row, as Casher spun in turn one at the start and collected several cars, including Jimmy Holden, Bob Alcorn and Shannon Casher. Holden had to pit and was not able to get back to the track within the two laps for changing a tire. The complete restart saw Crossman take the lead and set the pace, with Levi Picard in second and Shannon Casher third. As the race continued Craig Casher was working his way back towards the front. On lap 8, another caution waved, this time for Alcorn. Crossman led the rest of the way, with second an exciting battle, with Picard, and both Craig and Shannon Casher all fighting for position. When McClellan’s double checkered flags waved, it was all Crossman getting his first ever win at Hidden Valley Speedway. The rest of the top five were: Picard, Craig Casher, Shannon Casher, and newcomer Chris Luzier. Holden and Craig Cahser won the heats.
One of the most exciting races of the night was the Pure Stock feature, with Ryan Shaffner getting off the line before Fuzzy Fields, with Shaffner setting the pace when the yellow waved on lap five for a spinning Parker Hemphill. The restart saw Shaffner still leading with Eric Lucas now second from sixth and Fields in third. They were running under the proverbial blanket with another caution slowing the field on lap seven. On the restart, Fields went to the outside and made a bonsai move that propelled him into the lead from third place on lap eight. Fields was holding his own, until Shaffner began to pressure him. A pair of cautions on lap 12 kept the field tight. The final restart, on lap 12 saw Fields still leading with Shaffner second and Lucas in third. When the field entered the last lap, Fields still had the lead, with Lucas now in second and reeling in the leader. On the final laps, Lucas went for broke and took the inside line while Fields was giving him room on the outside, as they ran side-by-side several laps but when the checkered flags fell it was Lucas who made the final lap count, as he was able to make the inside line work and made the pass on Fields for his third straight win and fourth over all this season. Fields was a close second over Shaffner, Shannon Casher and Andre Wray. The heat was won by Lucas.
The Little’s Drive In Four Cylinder feature saw Nathan Woolley take the lead from fellow front row starter Zack Frantz. Frantz was chasing Woolley for most of the race, trying everything he had to get the lead, and finally on lap 10, Frantz made the inside groove work, as he was side by side with Woolley out of turn two and into the third and four turns, and he exited turn four the leader. When the double checkers flew it was Frantz getting his first official win of the season over Woolley, Jason Elensky, Luke Hoffner and Allen Robison. Frantz and Woolley split heat wins.
The 600 Micro Sprints saw Heath Walton and Elix Kennedy on the front row, as Walton took the lead and set his own pace, as Kennedy ran second for six laps, before the caution waved. On lap seven, Izzy Landis took over second and tried to reel in the leader, but she ran out of time. The top five were: Walton, Landis, Kennedy Zayden Lowery and Bob Potter. Walton also won the heat.
The Make up 600 Micro Sprint feature was won by Izzy Landis over Eli Kennedy and Shawn Rumbaugh. That race went non-stop.
