Frantz Claims SCDRA/Mayhew Memorial; Holden Claims 100th SB Mod Feature
For Immediate Release August 15, 2025
Clearfield, PA – Josh Frantz of Reynoldsville picked up the SCDRA Northeast Four Cylinder Touring Series/Jess Mayhew Memorial Friday night at Hidden Valley Speedway and continued his domination on the tour, while Jimmy Holden of Tiona claimed his 100th career Small Block Modified feature win and his third straight.
Other Repeat winners included Gary Little of Clearfield in the Semi Late feature and Eric Lucas of Clearfield in the Pure Stock division.
The Semi Late feature was brought to the start with Dylan Fenton and Dan Gill on the front row, as Gary Little was able to move from his third place starting spot into the lead before the first official lap was in the books, as Fenton settled into second and Gill ran third with Justin Owens sitting fourth. Fenton was just a tad off of Little’s pace, but he maintained that same distance and could not quite reel in the leader as Little went on to get his sixth win of the season and his fourth straight. The complete finish was Little, Fenton, Gill and Owens. Little also won the heat.
Trent Ogden outran Shannon Casher at the start of the Small Block Modified Feature. Ogden was hooked up and held Casher at bay the first lap, then Levi Picard moved into second and was chasing Casher. The top two were being chased by Jimmy Holden who was coming from sixth. While working the seventh lap, Holden moved into second and was reeling in Ogden, then while working turns one and two, Holden dove under Ogden and they ran side by side into the third and fourth turns and when they got to the line on lap eight, it was Holden leading. While he went to cross under Sam McClellan’s double checkered flags, Ogden and Picard were having a good fight for second with Casher losing some momentum and nearly spinning earlier, but he battled back to challenge for second late in the race. When it was all over, it was Holden getting his 100th career win over Ogden, Picard, Casher and Craig Casher. Heat wins went to Holden and Shannon Casher.
Ryan Jones and Josh Fields lined up on the front row of the Pure Stock feature as Fields took the lead and had a nice battle going with Jones for the first four laps while Eric Lucas was coming from sixth. Lucas moved into second on lap five as a yellow flew on lap 6 for a spinning Shannon Casher.
The restart saw Fields still in the lead, as Lucas moved to the bottom of the leader, but Fields held the lead until lap eight when the caution waved again for a spinning Austin Fenton. On the restart, Lucas again used the low side going into turn one and out of two, and into three and four. Lucas secured the lead on lap nine and brought Ryan Shaffner into second a lap later. The caution waved again on laps 12 and 13, as Shaffner was throwing everything he had at Lucas, and Shaffner actually got the lead on the backstretch on lap 13, but the caution waved before it was an official lap and he was relegated back to second. Lucas was able to continue in the lead and hold off Shaffner for his third win of the season and his second straight. The top five were: Lucas, Shaffner, Fields, Jones and Casher. Lucas also won the heat.
The SCDRA Northeast Four Cylinder Touring Series/Jess Mayhew Memorial saw Jeff Erb and Tiana Anderson lead the field to the start, with third place starter Josh Frantz wasting no time jumping to the lead. He took the lead at the start and he set a torrid pace the entire 30-lap distance. As he led, Chris Anderson and Chaz Smith were fighting for second, with the top three not changing much at the line, but when McClellan threw the double checkered flag for the last time of the night, it was Frantz taking the win, over Chris Anderson, Smith, Tiana Anderson and Jason Porter completed the top five.
Qualifying wins went to: Chaz Smith, Luke Hoffner, Tiana Anderson, Josh Frantz and Jeff Erb. The two 10-lap B-Mains went to Trevor Putt and Justin Williamson.
